01. Here We Go!
If I (Jules) looked nervous, I wasn’t. I was freezing!
Go figure, the heat wave we were having was interrupted by a cold front for one day, literally the evening we got married - 60 degrees and VERY windy.
It could have been a lot worse…think JUNE wedding in Florida.

02. Gina and Max
Doug's best friend, Gina officiated for us.
This was even more special than you might think, since Doug had walked her down the aisle five years ago to marry Max.
Here, Max is not actually being inattentive during our ceremony.
He was holding Jules’ phone which had Faye and Tom peeking in through Skype.

03. The Rings
Doug getting ready to slip the band on my finger.
Just a couple hours before, while Doug was getting ready at our friend’s house I received a phone call asking me if by any chance the ring box was on the floor of our living room.
“You lost the ring?” I said. “You’re kidding.”
“I kid you not.” says Doug.
As we retraced his steps and the packing of his travel bag, I suggested he look inside his new shoes.
Voila! The ring was found. "You are amazing at finding things!” said Doug. “And that’s exactly why I’m going to marry you.”
04. The Rings
My turn to put Doug’s band on his finger. I had packed his ring in my wedding bag about a week prior. End of story.
05. The Vows
Doug and I chose to write our own vows (see our Vows page).
They were personal, meaningful, from the heart.
They reflected our personalities.
Doug’s were traditional and concise.
Mine utilized a woman’s maximum word per day limit.
06. She cries a lot.
Doug held it together the entire time. I was doing jigs on the inside…really!
07. The Kiss
08. I pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Roberson
Here, I think Gina asked us how we felt.
Frankly, I (Jules) was starving! And freezing!
Could I have a snack and a sweater??
09. Innermost thoughts
Jules: Well, I guess there’s no turning back now.
Doug: Well, I guess there’s no turning back now.
10. Close-up with Mom and Dad
Jules gives a last wink to the folks before heading to take a few photos and enjoy dinner at Uncle Julio’s.
11. The Boys
Jake Barwig, Doug, and Max Leynov.
12. The Girls
Marisa Barwig, Jules, Gina Leynov. Loving, supportive, and genuine, these women are true friends.
13. Lovely Lady and the Star
This statue stands in front of the amphitheatre in Mizner Park. She added a bit of sparkle to our backdrop.
14. The Tower
AKA our chuppah for the evening.
We had incredible light so we could take video of the ceremony.
It also provided wonderful cover from the winds!
15. Those Crazy Kids
Photo-bomb fun, post-nuptials we all were able to relax and have some laughs.
This is Doug’s favorite photo. .
Mine is one of the ones where I’m crying.
Seriously, I tell you, I’m dancing jigs on the inside.
16. The Robersons and the Barwigs
We had just attended Marisa and Jake’s wedding in November. Love is still in the air.
17. The Robersons and the Leynovs
We love this photo of the four of us. I think this is the first one we have without a chicken hat on somebody’s head.
18. Fountain Antics
What you don’t see here is Doug trying to throw pennies down my dress.
19. My Favorite Fountain
This is actually one of my favorite photos. I love the light and the big fountain behind us.
20. Splish Splash
I think this is where Doug was yelling at some idiot to stop blocking the shot, but I like how it looks like he’s just gotten doused by the fountain and I’m entirely oblivious.
21. The Gazebo
We originally had wanted to get married under the gazebo until we discovered the lack of privacy, how dark the lighting was, as well as a few banana peels and stray homeless folks.
Hold on there! The right homeless guy would have livened things up a bit. - Doug
22. The Gazebo 2
Fun Gazebo Facts - The Sound of Music:
The gazebo used for the "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" and "Something Good" scenes can still be visited in the Salzburg area, on "Sound of Music" tours. However, the public had to be excluded from the interior because film fans who were considerably older than "sixteen going on seventeen" were injuring themselves while trying to dance along the seats. The gazebo in Austria was only used for exterior shots. The actual dance by Charmian Carr and Daniel Truhitte was, in fact, filmed on a replica of the gazebo's interior on a sound stage at 20th Century-Fox in Los Angeles, as were the shots of Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.
23. The Gazebo 3
More Fun Gazebo Facts From The Sound of Music:
During the scene with Maria and the Captain at the gazebo, Julie Andrews couldn't stop laughing due to a lighting device that was making, in her words, a "raspberry" every time she leaned in to kiss Plummer. After more than 20 takes, the scene was altered to silhouette the two and to hide Andrews' giggles.
24. Uncle Julio’s
I am smiling because I have guacamole in my belly. We ate here on our first date. The food is great, the ambiance is fabulous, warm, and colorful. Doug decided to eat an entire grilled jalapeno that could have turned the evening into one of those really weird wedding stories. Instead it just turned Doug’s lips a little numb.
(No idea what she's talking about; it wasn't numb - Doug)
25. Marisa and Jake
Doug would later repay Jake's kind photographic contribution by stuffing him in the attic for an afternoon for a network wiring project!
26. Symbols of life and eternity
Doug and I love the imagery of two hands clasped (see Renaissance Festival dating story). Here we are with the addition of our new wedding bands.
(how did I get included in that particular bowl of fruit salad? - D)
27.Hello Camera Holding Person
We will smile for you now, thank you for the picture!
28. Join Us For Dinner
We will have the donkey fajitas. Join us!
29. iPhone
I told Doug that, no matter what happened, we had to take at least one photo with my iPhone as it always came through with clear photos.
That was the emergency plan.
Good thing we had a backup plan, as both of our cameras tanked.
The only photos we have are from the fantastic Nikon Jake gave to Marisa.
Thank you Jake! Thank you, too, Marisa, for capturing our special moments!
30. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue
Mom, Roberta, and even Nana contributed special touches to our day. I wore Nana’s gold bangle on my wrist as my something old. Sis got me the crystal earrings and unique pendant that I found to wear with my dress from Mom. I “borrowed” ear backings from the pair of earrings Doug gave to me when the ones I had wouldn’t stay on. And Mom sent Nana’s blue, butterfly embroidered handkerchief to dry my eyes. Did I mention I cry a lot?
31. Time after time
I surprised Doug with a watch he had eyed a month or so before the wedding. I think I got him pretty good! Meanwhile, he got me a mani-pedi at my favorite place so I’d feel pampered for our special day. He just doesn’t know what he’s missing.
32. Friends
Doug really loves black and white shots
33. Closing time
After the ceremony, photos, and dinner, Doug and I went to watch the holiday light display that we had seen on our first date. The creator of the display, Rick, and his wife Jeanne came out to congratulate us and hear about our love story. Everything was perfect. We are looking forward to these next chapters in our lives. We are so lucky, so blessed, and so in love. We are so glad that we can share it with you.
